Black Mountain Notes Fumees

This is a fascinating drink. I picked it up impulsively, believing it to be a French whisky, but it's actually a Scotch blend that's been matured in France. Its peat level is comparable to JW Double Black. They mention using 20% peated malt in the blend, and I suspect the other 80% is grain. Beneath the peat, the spirit is quite delicate and bubbly, reminiscent of a pleasant menthol cigarette. Definitely worth sampling.

A simple description: sweet earthiness. I'm not usually one for peaty whiskeys, so I was genuinely surprised by this French spirit, which I grabbed on a whim while it was discounted. It has a pleasant, mild smokiness on both the aroma and the palate. I truly liked it and would certainly get another one if I happen upon it.
