Bergens Aquavit

Aquavit tasting, December 17, 2022, aquavit #3 Nose: Floral scents, wine fragrances, light citrus. Palate: Smooth, oily citrus, anise. Rich, creamy texture. Finish: Medium. Well-balanced with fruity notes. The aroma of this aquavit was distinct from the others tasted that day, possessing a more fruity character, almost like a very crisp white wine. It remained quite robust, however, displaying the traditional caraway and anise in good measure, yet it was well-balanced and complex. The palate was similarly rich and full, featuring a rounded baking spice profile. It was less creamy or buttery than some other aquavits. Overall, it was highly enjoyable and one of my favorites of the day, tied with another. I felt it had sufficient character without being overly challenging, but keep in mind I am quite new to this type of spirit, and more experienced palates might find this one a bit unremarkable. Smells of fir needles and caraway. Strong, but with little flavor. Sweet aftertaste. Fruity aftertaste. A bit like aquavit. Special, but worth keeping in the cabinet.
