Marilynn Durant 4.3

A very malt-forward aroma, as expected. It's somewhat musty yet ultimately sweet, like damp hay. I also detect cocoa butter, a hint of vanilla, and cookie dough. The palate is spicy, particularly at the back of the throat, but equally sweet. Notes of cracked pepper, ginger powder, and a pinch of cinnamon are present, along with Asian pear jelly, honey, and a touch of white chocolate. The texture is slick, almost oily, and medium-full bodied. Swirling the glass produces rapid but neat and fairly uniform legs with well-defined teardrops. The finish is slightly bitter, oaky, and lengthy yet mild. Baking spices give way to grassy tannins and cigar papers. A small addition of water mellows the spice and enhances the sweetness.
