Tried this for the first time last night based on a recommendation from the distiller app. I have to say, I was genuinely surprised by how sweet this rum is. Sweet in a good way. And for the price, you can't beat it. I highly recommend trying it.

About this bottle
Bayou Rum, produced by Louisiana Spirits, aims to reestablish rum production in its original American location, utilizing molasses and raw sugar grown and processed within the state. Their spiced rum begins like their other offerings, with a pot-still rum crafted using their unique "sugar house recipe" and triple-filtered spring water. The spice blend is entirely sourced from Louisiana.

Really good nose. It actually has some vanilla and cinnamon; I don't detect pepper, but also no resin. Taste is quite strong and alcoholic. Good as a mixer, I think.
Very sweet, with hints of orange peel and a mildly peppery finish. It's an acceptable rum for its cost, but it quickly becomes overwhelmingly sweet.
Very enjoyable but occasionally feels too sweet. A bit overpriced, perhaps; it should not cost more than Morgan black spiced.
A sweet, smooth rum. It's great mixed with a little water, a splash of soda, and a lime wedge. A truly excellent spiced rum.
Suitable for mixing or serving on the rocks. It's light, sweet, and fruity.
