Stephanie Gunderson 5.0

Among non-Scotch single malts I've tried, this is the closest to actual scotch. If it were in a group of four scotches, I might not identify this one as the outsider. It reminds me of Speyside/Highland. The barley on the nose is quite crisp, with full-bodied fruit underneath (not intensely fruity) and a subtle peat, but no smoke. This character carries completely to the palate, with added leather that transitions to a woody taste on the finish. I detect more of the red Burgundy barrel influence than the sherry; I'll admit my knowledge of Sauternes isn't enough to distinguish it. Overall, a lovely bottle, perfect for autumn.

Derek Stoner 2.8

It reminded me of highland malts with a hint of smoke. Quite enjoyable. After allowing the liquid to rest in the glass for a few minutes, it opens up. Notes of butterscotch, citrus, floral, and ash appear. Not overly complex, but the medium body and bite compensate for this.

Donna Hiller 4.3

Fruity aroma. The taste is spicy and slightly sweet. It's surprisingly smooth despite its fiery character. The aftertaste is minimal, with only a touch of lingering fruitiness.

Javon Lacey 4.3

The aroma is of apricot and cooked pears. It's spicy yet smooth and not overly sweet. Lightly peated with flavors of malt, fruit, and bergamot.

Matt Strickland 3.5

Apricot and bergamot scents and flavors. It has a slight sharpness, but it goes down easily. A malty aftertaste remains.

Joni Seward 3.8

A sweet aroma like apples or fruit. It also tastes sweet but not excessively so, with a lingering spicy fruitiness and a smooth texture.
