Barrell Whiskey Infinite Barrel Project (February 12, 2020)

I purchased this bottle because a certain other product is amazing, and I read this was quite good for a lower price than its counterparts… tasting this with a Glencairn and a Norlan glass neat. Nose: slight caramel, baking spice, rye spice, a little heat Taste: significant heat building, it's like a bourbon and rye whiskey competing for the primary flavor profile. Sweet caramel followed by rye spice Finish: hot! Medium mouthfeel, lots of dark chocolate and oak spice. This is my second time trying it; the first time I wasn't a fan. Initially, I thought I was drinking a bourbon, then the rye whiskey emerged, followed by the dark chocolate finish. I'm confused by this, but after a few sips, my mouth feels numb, which I kind of like. I might use this to surprise some friends or put it in mixed drinks… it was an impulse buy, but I might do more research next time.

The aroma has an almost wine-like sweetness complemented by cereal grain and fruity notes. The palate tastes a bit young and unintegrated, with woody notes opening to some caramel syrup. The finish, however, is quite pleasant with a sweet and spicy fade. It's enjoyable, but it doesn't feel like all the elements have fully come together.

Nose: sweet, woody, vanilla, and hints of apple/pear Taste: sweeter notes, hints of fruit like the apple I detected and caramel. Mild spice that persists. Overall: I admire the concept and will likely try it again periodically with different batches, but I'm uncertain if I would repurchase this particular batch.

The infinite barrel project is a bit of a rougher journey than other Barrel offerings, but also complex, interesting, and less costly—I'm a fan.

Creamy and warming. Worth the cost!

The Canadian component is slightly overpowering.
