I had never encountered a Barrell single barrel rye until I found this one on vacation in Colorado. The nose offers notes of biscuit, grass, honey, green apple, and apricot. It reminds me of Seagrass, but it's not the same. Given that Seagrass is more affordable and readily available, I'll need to compare them directly. On the palate, caramel, shortbread, and peach join the aromas and come on strong. There's also a savory note, like eucalyptus or sagebrush, possibly a hint of dill, which appears at the end of the palate and lingers in the finish. Delicious.
