Opened it up; initial thought - I do enjoy this. I concur that it is smooth and drinks well below the 125+ proof, which is a significant advantage. It blends some sweetness and spice, though initially, I primarily taste the impact of the "Finishing" done by Barrell, based on my own experience with finishes. I'm pleased the finish doesn't overpower the overall profile. I wasn't sure what to anticipate with my first finished Whiskey. I'm eager to observe how it evolves over time (next week, next month, etc.). However, I expect to be enthusiastic about reaching for it again.

This might be the best bottle I've sampled this year. This is the fourth release (Batch 4) of the Dovetail. At 125.24 Proof, this is truly an outstanding whiskey. The rich rum and fruity Port wine flavors are very prominent, and the finish has the distinctive mint found in the first release. Despite the high alcohol content, it doesn't taste overly strong. Potentially dangerous, decadent, and delicious.

Walter Rudolph 4.3

Smells of dark cherry and spice. Tastes of dark fruit and raisin with a black pepper finish.

Robyn Woodall 4.5

Smooth. Unexpected. Added just one small ice cube.

Miranda Bloom 2.5

The port characteristics are evident. Exceptionally smooth, though.

Jasmine Pringle 4.3

Excellent flavor, worth the cost!! Quite a bit of heat!
