Moshe Stratton 4.3

My initial experience with this distillery, though I've always considered trying their products. My recent enjoyment of rye whiskey finished in wine casks led me to this, intrigued by its wine cask finish, notes of wildflower honey, and turbinado sugar, which sounded too compelling to ignore. It pours a very dark amber, showing clear evidence of wine influence. The aroma is dominated by red wine notes, making me question if wine was actually added. Then comes the taste. I'll describe it as clearly and simply as possible for the average whiskey enthusiast. Picture Woodford Reserve Double Oaked: its rich, malty, almost acidic deep chocolate flavor and hint of stone fruit. Now imagine that at cask strength and slightly younger, meaning more intensity and less influence from aging. Then, add a red wine cask finish. It's a genuinely distinctive experience, justifying its cost and earning a spot on my shelf. Its uniqueness means I can confidently offer it to fans of both bourbon and scotch, ensuring everyone finds something to appreciate. I also imagine it would be fantastic in a cocktail.
