Bacardí Spiced

The aroma is welcoming, with subtle spice mingling with cane sugar cola and pancake syrup, plus a faint hint of ether that sits between ripe banana and nail polish remover. With aeration, a touch of honeydew and vanilla caramel can be brought out. The taste begins with spice, heat, and sweetness, featuring cinnamon, pepper, and allspice at the forefront on a thin molasses base. After the heat subsides, notes of citrus pith and amaretto emerge. It has a thin body, yet is velvety smooth like fine fabric. Legs form quickly but descend slowly, leaving a respectable ring of thick droplets. The finish is rather brief but satisfying, with flavors of dried tropical fruit, papaya, pomelo, and pineapple, along with hints of oak and smoke. Nose: 7 Taste: 8 Body: 6 Finish: 7

While this is supposedly a rebranded Bacardi, Oakheart, the two spirits are remarkably different, possibly due to my Oakheart sample being from an older, previously opened bottle, whereas the Spiced came from a new one. The aroma evokes red wine, with a brown sugar undertone. It possesses a surprisingly substantial mouthfeel for its cost. Drunk neat, it presents notes of honey and toasted marshmallow, although a slight warmth persists. When mixed with cola, it acts as a vanilla and honey-forward enhancer.

It's a decent spiced rum, tasting quite different from Captain Morgan's. The flavor isn't bad, but it has a slightly artificial quality, and personally, I detected an artificial cherry note. It seemed inexpensive but was still enjoyable, not unpleasant. Overall, I'd drink it again because it was smooth and sweet, despite a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Bacardi Spiced Rum has a clear, amber appearance. The aroma is of oaky cane syrup. The flavor is of spiced, oaky, pancake/waffle syrup. Bacardi Spiced Rum has a medium body and a somewhat short finish. RJT

Very sweet. I enjoy the vanilla, it's almost like caramel. If you don't have a preference for sweetness, avoid this one:)

This rum is not for sipping enjoyment; it is acceptable with coke, though not outstanding. Merely adequate!
