Bacardí Oakheart Spiced Rum

Despite my strong dislike for the brand itself and its standard rums, I actually found myself enjoying this when it was released. At around 7 EUR per bottle, it was an amazing spiced rum. The sweet nutmeg and cinnamon flavor was unmatched then. However, now with prices starting at 10 EUR, you can find much better bottles. They don't have that intense sweetness but offer a superior rum experience. I sometimes miss Oakenheart, served neat or with cola. But not enough to buy a bottle. Still, if you're looking for an easily accessible spiced rum and want to avoid the harshness of Morgan's, but aren't quite ready for Sailor Jerry, this is a great option.

I'm quite fond of this for such an affordable rum! It delivers the sweet rum I enjoy, suitable for mixing with cola or drinking straight. A strong caramel scent with hints of root beer. On the palate, it's smooth with prominent caramel again, a touch of butterscotch, and some root beer, which is most noticeable in the finish. As it sits in your mouth, the flavor evolves to reveal subtle banana and vanilla undertones. It's a good choice for cocktails needing sweetness and caramel notes. Regardless of how it's consumed, the spice is not overpowering and emerges more towards the end. The rating reflects sipping it neat.

Considering the similar price point to Gold, there's no doubt which one is superior, spiced or not. It has a simple, vanilla-forward profile with a pleasant oak balance, unlike the alcoholic charcoal taste of the Gold. I didn't expect to like this, but it was quite enjoyable. It's a tad sweet overall, but it mixes wonderfully without any issues. It's an easy staple to keep on hand due to its low cost. I still think I prefer my Captain Morgan 100 over this, but it's a decent choice.

A light rum to enjoy while relaxing. It has spices and caramel, with no strong alcohol presence. If you consider it a replacement for Bacardi Spiced, then its overall rating is definitely too low.

Smells like nail polish remover and whiskey, with a faint whisper of brown sugar. The flavor is sweet, featuring banana and brown sugar, but the alcohol sting never fully subsides.

A solid spiced rum. It offers warm spice with prominent vanilla notes. It has fewer buttery notes than most rums. It's quite dry for a rum but seems slightly diluted. Very smooth.
