Bacardi Ron Casa Special Reserve

Tastes of butterscotch, a bit of eucalyptus, not too sweet, with very little molasses. This rum is rich yet light, exceptionally smooth, but understated, seeming to make you work to discover all it offers. I regret my palate isn't better and I could grasp all of it, because so much is just beyond my reach. 8 months later, I'm taking a second sip with a more developed rum palate and hoping!!! that I still find this bottle worth the $160 (gulp). Yes, thankfully, the molasses is more apparent now, and cinnamon is present too. If anything, it's even smoother.

Incredibly smooth with a diverse range of flavors, many of which likely vary by batch. I typically wouldn't spend this much on a rum, especially considering my limited experience with premium rums. However, this is exclusively found in Puerto Rico at the Bacardi distillery, so I overlooked the cost and brought a bottle back. It makes every other rum I've sampled seem inferior, and I anticipate searching for another bottle to match it for quite some time—hopefully, I find one before I finish this one!

Tasted prior to its official release. A gift from my brother-in-law and sister-in-law from their honeymoon in Puerto Rico. The aroma of caramel, molasses, and oak carries through to the taste, which also includes crème brûlée and fig. Very mild. The finish is smooth. An excellent spirit for sipping.

I acquired this in 2016 and have enjoyed it four times. The day of my engagement, the day the Philadelphia Eagles won SB LII, and when I brought my daughters home from the hospital in 2020, and today.
