Jarod Doherty 4.0

This whiskey has a silky texture in the mouth. While not excessively viscous, it's oily enough to coat the palate nicely. There's a pleasant sweetness at the start, followed by lovely peat smoke and an almond extract flavor reminiscent of angelfood cake. A nice toasty, chocolate note emerges on the finish. This is a very enjoyable whiskey. It's not extremely complex, but it's also not one-dimensional. The labeling is quite transparent too. You're getting a non-age stated, cask strength, peated whiskey. It's non-chill filtered, has no color added, and is distilled and bottled in the USA. It's hard to find fault with all that for $60.

Everly Palma 2.8

Neat -- Tastes like charcoal, and the finish resembles an ashtray (for context: I enjoy Islay scotch). With an ice cube (a rare practice for me) -- the bottle was saved; it's MUCH improved.
