A traditional expression from the distillery, very fruity due to the sherry casks and quite smoky. Nose: maple syrup, strong woody/turpentine notes, dried figs Palate: oak, dried red fruits, mellow smoke, campfire ash/bonfire, almost caramel/raw sugar, Finish: a rather extended finish with a gentle alcohol warmth, and those mellow oaky and smoky notes fade, leaving an ash-like bitterness. The high proof is definitely noticeable and I would say it's a bit too intense for this spirit; 50-55% ABV would have been preferable in my opinion. Still an excellent spirit and I recommend it if you enjoy Ardbeg Uigeadail!
