Arran Single Malt The Sherry Cask Finish

Arran is consistently a reliable choice. It's highly unlikely you'll be disappointed when purchasing a bottle from this Lochranza distillery. That being said, they've updated their bottle design, which I really dislike, leading me to avoid new releases and first try everything from the older labels. This Sherry Cask Finish is an Oloroso Sherry maturation, bottled at 46% ABV, with a pleasant golden hue. On the nose, notes of chocolate milk formula, hazelnut, Hanuta, floral hints, ginger, and Nesquik. It shifts slightly after a few sips, revealing raisins and dried fruits. On the palate, it's a good dram, though not overwhelmingly captivating. Flavors of red fruits, chocolate, milk, vanilla, and oranges. Not outstanding, but certainly not bad. Aftertaste is very woody. Tastes of sawdust and ginger; a very dry finish. Further sips revealed notes of salt, sulfur, and metallic characteristics. There's also some pepper present. Overall, this feels like a more alcoholic and intense Glendronach. That's a good way to describe it; perhaps a bit young, but it's a nice offering. Not the best Arran, and definitely not a bad whisky; my score for it is 87 out of 100.

Nose: Fruits (pear, apple, lemon) are prominent, followed by vanilla. The alcohol is strong in the nose, causing a slight tingle. Taste: Quite oaky and malty, with a bit of lemon peel. Finish: The finish is not excessively long, with an emphasis on lemon. A good bottle, but it seems too young in taste.

Very good! Nice finish. A bit of wine and a bit of scotch. Nice find. Makes me want to explore this distillery. Tasted at Roch L.'s in 2018-12.

The finish abruptly stops. Between sweet and tart, there's an apricot aroma. To enhance the scent, I added six drops of water via dropper into a cognac glass.

Pleasant. It was too sweet for my preference, but very nice nonetheless. Sweet and smooth flavor.

A complex and engaging flavor. Excellent, and not an everyday drink.
