Nose: Candied fruit, floral notes, citrus, and window putty. Palate: Sweet honey, full-bodied, rich, with caramel, berries, berry pudding, and malt loaf. Finish: A long finish with notes of sweet tobacco, black pepper, a brandy-like characteristic, and abundant dark dried fruits such as figs and dates. This is an unpeated spirit made from Concerto malt, primarily from Fife. It was aged in 24 ex-bourbon casks and finished in Madeira casks. It's viscous, sweet, and full-bodied, with caramel, fruity, and malty elements. There's a noticeable burn, but its fullness, layered sweetness, and creamy texture make it a remarkably enjoyable experience. A superb dram! It was the second favorite out of six samples during a virtual tasting, receiving 45% of the votes for the night's top choice. Everyone present indicated they enjoyed the whisky. Two standout spirits strongly dominated the voting, which may have unfairly impacted the perception of some others. I enjoyed this enough to purchase a bottle during the event.
