Since it was a travel exclusive and quite affordable, my expectations were low. However, I decided to try this one as I really enjoy the 12-year ancnoc. Nose: It has a peatiness, but not the medicinal or band-aid kind often found in Islay scotch. It's more like a seaside breeze, with notes of seaweed and shellfish. There's a fruitiness beneath the peat, with citrus and some tropical fruit hints. Vanilla is definitely present, as is some green apple. Taste: This offers a three-stage experience. First, sweetness with some apple, grass, and citrus. Second, the peat emerges! A slight burn here makes me think this whiskey is relatively young. Third, it develops into nutty flavors with caramel and vanilla. Finish: Primarily caramel, vanilla, and a bit of coffee. It has a medium length and is satisfying.

Nose has peat and some sweetness, ripe banana, ginger, green apples. On the palate, it's spicier, peppery, with a hint of lemon zest, campfire smoke. The smoke remains, leading to a dry finish.
