anCnoc Peatlands

A robust Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Knockdhu Distillery in Highland, Scotland, previously exclusive to its region. It was matured in former bourbon casks and bottled at 46% ABV. It presents with a fruity and earthy beginning, featuring notes of citrus, caramel, honey, and peat, alongside a touch of cinnamon-apple crumble. The middle unfolds with a creamy and rich character, revealing notes of green herbs, gentle smoke, toffee, and a hint of baking spice, concluding with a refined, medium-length finish of floral and vanilla essences. Nose: Earthy smoke, hay, crème brûlée, damp soil Palate: Garden vegetables, smoked hog, salad greens, peat, spice & root, lemon & tangerine, bright Finish: Moderate length. Slick, smoky, vanilla. A tang develops on the finish. Silky and smoky, though not as heavily peated as a dram from southern Islay. Hints of lemon and tangerine are present throughout, becoming stronger in the lingering notes. The citrus flavors appear to rest above the peat, not fully incorporated. a friend thought it was a bit too much.
