anCnoc 2001 Vintage, produced at Knockdhu Distillery in the Scottish Highlands, was introduced in March 2016 as the newest addition to the company's collection of vintage bottlings. This single malt spent more than 15 years aging in both Spanish and American oak barrels before being bottled at 46% ABV, remaining in its natural state without chill-filtration or added color.

As always, it lives up to the reputation of AnCnoc (and my fondness for this distillery!). On the palate, it's almost like cider due to the prominent apple flavor! Truly unique in my opinion. It will certainly be a bottle I'll be sad to finish. Is it as good as their incredible 18-year-old? I'm not sure, but it's close! Bottle opened in 2022-08.
A fantastic whisky, with notes of oak and caramel. I particularly enjoy the apples on the nose that become pears on the palate. The finish has a slight burn, but it's forgiven. This is REALLY good stuff!
A rush of citrus, oak, and subtle honey notes. Its lack of complexity is balanced by its flavor. A delicious spirit.
