American Metal Whiskey

Day No.8 I really enjoyed the concept of this whiskey being tied to cars. And it makes sense because in the Flaviar booklet, they suggest imagining yourself in a classic Shelby Gt500. What a coincidence! I'm a massive Ford fan and have owned three different Mustangs, my current one being a Shelby GT350! I'll get back to the whiskey now. Unfortunately, the tasting wasn't as exciting as the car story. The pour was quite light overall. There wasn't much to note beyond subtle hints of vanilla and brown sugar. Occasionally, there was a touch of butterscotch. Mostly, a corn/grain character was present in the background. It also seemed somewhat lacking in body. I wish this had more depth. Still, it's worth a try. Definitely not something to pour down the drain.

Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Light amber. Nose: Strong corn notes, with some caramel and vanilla. Palate: Baking spice, clove, some oak tannins. Finish: Short length with medium heat. Splash: Somehow this gets spicier with a few drops of water. Overall: 7/10 - This is about what I expected given the mashbill and proof. It was given to me by a friend who didn't particularly like it, and honestly I didn't expect to like it either, but it's a fine low proof sipper and would work well in a cocktail.

It's a sweet drink on the nose and palate. Features roasted corn and butterscotch on the palate. It's creamy, with a brief but pleasant finish of vanilla and caramel with a hint of oak spice.

Advent #8. Clear golden amber body with medium legs. Fruit, honey, pepper, and corn on the nose. Corn, pepper, and honey on the palate. Medium-light body with a heavy warming sensation. Score: 6/4/6/3/12 = 3.1

An interesting whiskey. I detect a hint of chocolate followed by a hint of fruit on the finish. It's a bit grainier than I prefer.

A touch of spice transitions into butterscotch and caramel.
