About this bottle

Chapter 7, a Swiss independent bottler, specializes in curated single cask releases that are presented at cask strength and without chill-filtration. Allt a Bhainne, a Speyside single malt distillery, is seldom bottled as a single malt, typically being utilized in blends. This particular cask was filled on August 4, 2008. The whisky completed its maturation in a first-fill bourbon hogshead and was bottled on September 4, 2017, at a cask strength of 60.7% ABV, with only 321 bottles produced.

Katy Briones 4.5

Impressions from the bottle: The pour releases intensely fruity aromas that settle into notes of golden apples, white grapes, allspice, and fresh white bread. The palate is a vibrant explosion of fruit and wood spice, featuring mangoes, peaches, white grape juice, freshly cut cedar, and pine. Despite being over 60% ABV, the presentation is remarkably balanced, with the heat and intensity building at a controlled yet deliberate pace (a few drops of water and a short rest significantly enhance its qualities). The finish is the highlight of this expression; it's exceptionally long and leaves a very pleasant Manuka honey-like sensation, with a subtle black tea undertone. This is my first experience with a Chapter 7 bottling, and they are rapidly becoming my preferred independent bottler.

Mila Geary 4.0

Slightly aggressive upfront. It's light and delicate, lacking a deep flavor. Still quite enjoyable, though a bit challenging to drink neat.

Daryl Mendoza 5.0

This was excellent once chilled with an ice cube. I strongly endorse it.
