Miltonduff 2001 17 Year (Alexander Murray & Co.)

A 17-year-old for $60? I'll certainly try that, thank you very much, Costco. The scent is light and floral, reminiscent of Dalwhinnie but without the honey. The taste is very smooth, coating the mouth well. It starts pleasantly sweet and fruity, with notes of apples, pears, and honeydew, but quickly turns bitter with a surge of grain alcohol that obliterates the fruit and leads directly to a brief, dry finish with a slight numbing sensation. It strongly resembles Chivas 12 but with more substance. It could have been much better with slightly improved blending. As it is, it's acceptable, and I wouldn't refuse it, but I won't be purchasing another bottle.

This unpeated Scotch Whisky from Miltonduff Distillery in Speyside, Scotland, bottled by Alexander Murray of California, is a 2001 vintage aged for 17 years in American oak casks. Its aromatic profile includes notes of peach & cream, summer florals, coconut & oak spice. The complex palate offers flavors of butter croissant, peaches, marmalade, milk chocolate, truffles & a hint of mint. It concludes with a long, warming finish featuring a touch of honeysuckle. August 2020 / 2022.

The aroma is excellent; the taste leaves room for improvement.

Really sweet with a smooth finish. It's decent, just not my cup of tea.
