A Dream of Scotland, Port Charlotte 12yo Manzanilla Cask Finish

I'm a big admirer of attractive labels from independent bottlers, and believe me, this one is stunning. Referred to as "The Kraken," this independent bottling from "A Dream of Scotland" features Port Charlotte (which is peated Bruichladdich) at cask strength, with a finish in manzanilla sherry casks. It's 12 years old and has a potent 51.3% ABV. Only 423 bottles were produced. On the nose, I detect the characteristic shampoo/soap scent common to Bruichladdich. Notes of white chocolate, florals, spicy bubblegum, and lotion for minor burns are present. Not the most remarkable aroma. On the palate, it's enjoyable. Flavors of peach, pepper, and aromatic herbs come through. The finish is quite dry, with raw rice notes and a sensation akin to glue used for sealing envelopes. Cotton-like. Overall, the label was superior to the whiskey itself, which isn't bad but certainly not noteworthy. It lacks complexity for a cask strength offering and doesn't provide any clear aromas or tasting notes. I'm a bit let down, giving it a score of 82 out of 100.
