I love this distillery. All their products are unique and challenge my taste buds. This is no exception. Batch 1, 42.5% ABV: Nose is light caramel/honey, mild hay, and cocoa. Taste starts with cocoa powder, hazelnut, honey, then becomes more tannic on the back of the tongue with tea, wood, tobacco, cocoa, and light sweetness. Medium dry finish. Delicately complex and earns a spot on the shelf for its unique combination of flavors. Definitely worth picking up if you're looking for something different

About this bottle
In tribute to Hordeum, one of humanity's earliest cultivated grains, this straight malt whiskey is made from a mash bill consisting of 99% Colorado-sourced malted barley with a small amount of rye. It has been aged for at least two years in full-sized, charred 53-gallon new American oak barrels and is bottled at 85 proof.
