8 Seconds Blended Canadian Whisky

8 Seconds whisky, no age stated but at least 3 years old. 40% ABV. Bottled in Fairfield, CA by Frank-Lin Distillers. Aroma: sharp, maple, vanilla, some oak and grains, surprisingly. Uses a synthetic cork. Taste: mild to moderate sweetness initially, light spice, faint oak presence, very slight astringency that fades as it sits. Moderate spice when drunk straight. Very smooth. A bit too expensive and seems to be "competing" with Pendleton whisky. It's an average whisky, but oddly, I rated this slightly higher than Pendleton, which I purchased for $3 to $4 less. Cost: $23.99+tax for a 750 ml bottle. Grade: C/C+ I also tried the 8 Seconds Black (8-year-old) and it's an improvement over this one (B-) and cost me $29.99 for a 750 ml bottle. 8 Seconds Black uses a real cork, unlike the synthetic one in the regular 8 Seconds. I hope to add that review later.

A 3.5 for the 8-year-old Black. It tastes decent, but I wouldn't pay extra for it. The website mentions apricot, and I concur. I also detect a woody sensation/texture. The lingering taste brings back memories of Redman chewing tobacco from my youth – and not necessarily fond memories…

Sweeter than anticipated. Smooth with good flavor.
