Yellow Rose Premium American Whiskey

Nose: Enjoyable. Smells of banana, toasted grains, and honey. Tastes like vanilla sugar cookies. Hints of warm nutmeg and anise, reminiscent of apple pie filling. Suggests a lower proof, 43% or less. The oak isn't prominent. Difficult to determine origin or age. No immature spirit scent, but not much oak influence either. Palate: Very approachable. Flavors of vanilla, banana, and whipped cream. Brown sugar notes. A gentle tannin presence. Still no sign of immature spirit. Unsure if grain whisky is present, possibly a little. Casks are a mystery. Ex-bourbon plus something else? Maybe re-charred? This reminds me of a peculiar mix of Sexton and Jamo Black Barrel. It’s subtle and sweet, with fleeting notes of flowers and black pepper. Well balanced overall, not emphasizing any single taste. However, I do desire more richness and depth. Medium-light body. Finish: A faint metallic sweetness with vanilla. Tastes like Nilla wafers and cream. Soon followed by a dusty corn character, then a slow fade. Uncomplicated. Medium duration. Additional details: The region was puzzling because it's a Canadian/bourbon combination, which makes sense, but further information is unavailable. No age statement. 40% abv (slightly off). If bourbon is included, new charred oak is present; details on other components are unknown. I truly wish I had more information on this. It's not my preference, but I could easily recommend it to someone who enjoys Jack or Crown. Exceptionally easy to drink and doesn't demand much thought or attention. No significant faults, and that's sometimes perfectly fine. Cheers!

(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Virtual American Whiskey Tasting, 26 February 2021) Nose: Apple, honey, brown sugar, sweet Palate: Hot, vanilla, black pepper, wood, nutty Finish: Slightly metallic. Sugary, oak, dusty, light char. Slightly sour aftertaste. Despite being slightly hot, it’s an easy dram to drink. The overarching flavor is nutty, woody and vanilla, although there is a little fruit in the background. Came last out of the six whiskeys, with 0% of the final vote for favorite of the night. 55% of those present said they enjoyed the whiskey.

I'm confused by this one. The aroma and flavor bring to mind a blend of whiskey and tequila. It doesn't suit my palate. It tastes like an error. Perhaps I will revisit it after the bottle has aired out a bit.

A full-bodied, sweet bourbon that's easy to drink. When it warms up or is served in a heated glass, notes of fruit and toasted oats become apparent.

Corn on the nose, not a particularly surprising or distinct beverage with a rather light mouthfeel and a mild lingering burn at the finish.

It's acceptable. The flavor profile is quite standard. I could enjoy this neat or over ice for extended periods without any concern, perhaps while fishing but with no expectation of success.
