Kailee Melvin 3.3

Quite fragrant and fruity on the nose with notes of malt, red wine, dried red fruit, brown sugar, honey, cinnamon, chocolate, and nutty sherry; surprisingly, no rye notes are detected. There's a slightly peculiar note I can't quite pinpoint (something roasted), but it's not unpleasant. The palate isn't entirely full and oily, but it's pleasant, semi-sweet with more nutty sherry, oak, dried fruits, cinnamon, and other baking spices. A touch of heat and bitterness is present, but not overwhelming. No prominent typical rye notes. The finish isn't as long as I anticipated for 120 proof, but it's pleasant and warming with subtle hints of nutty sherry, spices, and beeswax. An odd little rye, but it grows on me with each sampling.

Zayden Willis 3.5

The appearance resembles rosé wine; it has a pinkish tint, hence the name, “Red Horse.” It also exhibits extremely thin viscous trails. The intricate aroma includes notes of rye spice, corn dust, potpourri, dry white wine, a young moonshine funk, a pile of dead leaves, and Froot Loops cereal. The taste has a watery mouthfeel, is sweet and clean, but carries a new make/moonshine-like flavor with notes of leather, roasted corn, and bitter rhubarb. The finish is pleasant with no burn, though it's shorter, and a dark chocolate taste concludes it. Cheers!
