This rye whiskey expression is based on the brand's Paradigm rye, a combination of their own distilled rye and sourced rye from Kentucky and Indiana. It undergoes a finishing process with new applewood staves and is bottled at 93 proof.

The aroma presents fruit and cocoa. The initial taste isn't too strong, revealing more bourbon characteristics such as leather, wood, and a smoky essence. Rye flavors were scarce, though a hint of black pepper emerged, lingering into the finish. Adding ice mellowed the spirit considerably, muting its profile. It's an acceptable pour, but not a groundbreaking one.
A pleasant hit of apple, oak, and a subtle, welcome hint of apple cider vinegar, finishing with a touch of spice. Bold flavor. Compared to Blantons, which tasted watery after this. Extremely smooth, like an 80-proof. A personal favorite.
Hints of rye but more complex with sweet apple and notes of BBQ. Quite good for the cost and something I'd appreciate tasting again.
