Woodinville Private Select Single Barrel (Bob's Liquors)

A special selection from a liquor store in Lake City, WA. I really enjoy the Woodinville Straight Rye; it's among my favorites. The straight bourbon is excellent, though perhaps not outstanding. I couldn't resist a private cask strength selection from WWC. I let this sit for about 15 minutes in a whisky glass before tasting. Smell: sugary caramel apple. Faint oak notes. Taste: Excellent texture. Rich, heavy sweet red fruit. More apple. Didn't detect any chocolate like the tasting notes indicated on my initial sampling. A pleasant, warming burn on the finish. I appreciate the added flavor from the cask strength. Much richer and more engaging than the straight bourbon. Adding 2-3 drops of water slightly mellows it and enhances the apple notes.
