Nose: Tastes of caramel, vanilla, and a bready vanilla custard. There's a yeast-like aroma, similar to bread yeast. Later, a strong woody, mossy scent emerges, perhaps better described as earthy. Hints of rye and cinnamon are present. It's surprisingly complex. Body: Medium. Palate: Earthy and woody sweetness. Finish: Medium to long. It just gradually fades. Like distant thunder. A slight warmth, like a Kentucky hug. Note: Sample from a friend's barrel selection I couldn't attend due to the coronavirus situation. Still got to try it. The 1010 is the best. I really enjoy this. It's quite distinct from other bourbons. The earthy flavor is a welcome departure from the usual.
