The sauternes' sweetness clashed with the bourbon's sweetness, creating no clear winner. I anticipated pleasant sweet white wine notes to enhance the caramel, but instead, it was just damp cinnamon with a hint of oaky twizzlers. It's not terrible, just a bit unbalanced. About this bottle
Woodinville's 2024 Harvest Release is a straight bourbon that has been fully matured and then finished in recently emptied Sauternes wine casks. This grain-to-glass offering uses corn grown on the Omlin Family Farm in Quincy, Washington. The initial 500 hand-numbered bottles will be presented at the distillery's Harvest Release party on October 19, 2024, with online sales to follow soon after. It is bottled at 105 proof.
