This received the "Best Store Pick" distinction in one of my online whiskey communities. Glass: Glencairn, allowed to sit for 15 minutes. Color: A medium amber hue. Nose: This is incredible. It smells like chocolate brownies topped with nuts. Palate: Notes of oak and leather, with a hint of clove and some gentle cinnamon. It's certainly more dry than it is spicy. Finish: The warmth is moderate, but it fades quickly. This is somewhat underwhelming. Splash: No novel flavors emerge. Overall: 8.5/10 - If the finish had more staying power, it would easily be a 9/10, but Woodford Reserve asks for a higher price for that. While this might not be the best dram I've had this year, I understand why it earned that recognition. I'm eager to mix it into a cocktail.
