A surprising misstep from Woodford. I typically enjoy all Woodford Reserve products and consider them excellent value. However, this particular bottling had an unusual characteristic. It possessed an astringency quite unlike Woodford, bordering on tasting like cheap liquor. While enjoyable elements were present, particularly the signature Woodford woody sweetness on first taste, it was ultimately overpowered by a strong wave of bitter alcohol. It was disappointing enough to make me question if I had a faulty bottle. Nonetheless, judged against other bourbons without considering the brand, it's an average offering. For the price, opting for Double Oaked would be a better choice.

Smooth spirit with a little heat towards the end. A pleasant finish. Overall, a good bourbon for sipping, especially with a little ice or a dash of water.
Robust and full-bodied. Some warmth is detected on the finish. Smoky with notes of tobacco and vanilla. It engages your palate.
