About this bottle
Wolves The Rye Project Volume One Batch One is a joint effort between California's Wolves Whiskey and Kentucky's Willett Distillery. The blend of straight rye whiskeys begins with a 51% rye whiskey, aged for 6 years in new American oak in Indiana. This is then combined in Sonoma, California, with rye whiskeys from Willett that contain 74% rye and are 6 and 7 years old, with further aging taking place. Volume One Batch One is offered at 103 proof and became available in November/December 2021.

A deeply layered profile of tastes. Dominant mint, yet abundant citrus and rye notes are present. Faint traces of dill, anise, raisin, oak, and spices for baking. Quite engaging and velvety smooth.
Aroma: subtle pickle and fragrant baking spice Taste: slightly dry wood, sweet baking spice, and rye. Rich, well-balanced with a slightly unconventional rye finish.
Aroma: cereal, baking spices Palate: almonds, baking spices, lemon, oak, tobacco Finish: long and smooth Excellent
Smells like a cinnamon bun, with spearmint and marshmallow on the palate, and stone fruit in the background. Smooth finish.
I wasn't sure what to anticipate from this. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors and the finish. It's amazing.
