Adam Woods 4.5

A Kentucky Straight Bourbon from Kentucky, crafted with a high-rye mash bill and aged in oak for at least four years. It begins with an aromatic profile of baking spices and sweet corn. Its mature character reveals notes of caramelized bananas, corn, berries, and apricot, culminating in a long, warming finish with hints of citrus zest, cinnamon, and leather. Tasting dates span from October 2019 to March 2024, with future dates noted.

Gregg Heath 3.0

Acceptable whiskey for the price. Sweet brown sugar and caramel notes up front. The mid-palate has a nutty oak character, concluding with a potent cinnamon spice on the finish. My only complaint is a slight dryness on the back of my tongue. This is a solid whiskey for its cost, but I would not repurchase it if the price exceeded $30.

Cohen Mckinney 3.5

Spicy, full, and complex. It starts a bit medicinal with a minimal aroma, but then explodes into rich smokiness. Sweetness appears around the halfway point, then diminishes while the burn intensifies. Very good, but not outstanding. However, it's a strong contender against Two Stars or any standard, good Kentucky Bourbon.

Back on the app!! This is a gift for my dad and we opened it tonight. I’m kind of glad it’s his gift. It smells and tastes young in the sense that there isn’t much sweetness on the nose or tongue. I detect faint caramel aromas, but then it’s overwhelmed by corn grain whiskey.

Tempted to give it 5 stars just for the taste relative to the price. A vanilla sweetness with oak and a subtle grain flavor with some heat. A spicy peppery finish. Complex for an inexpensive whiskey. More so than others in this price category. Definitely a go-to when your wallet is thin.

Served with ice and a little water. It needs some time to breathe after pouring. Many people compare this to Woodford Reserve, and I like the Woodford better. It's decent for the price point under $30, but I wouldn't pay more than that.
