Wild Haselnuss Gold

Color: Amber Aroma: Nutty, distinctly hazelnut, but with a peculiar metallic note reminiscent of machine oil. Palate: Not excessively sweet with a strong hazelnut flavor, yet similar to the aroma, it possesses an industrial quality and an oily, potent, diesel-like character. This was one of four samples in a distillery-provided set of Wild liqueurs and spirits. I was not particularly impressed with any of them, and this was among my least favorites. It is undeniably nutty, but in my opinion, it was straightforward and harsh. The distillery's website lists nuances of chocolate, caramel, and dried fruit, but I did not detect any of those. Wild is clearly attempting to imitate Frangelico, but this liqueur is significantly inferior to the Italian classic. "Inferior": 65/100 (1.5 stars)
