This is an update to a review from a 2019 purchase. It's precisely as you'd imagine: walnut liqueur with walnut tannins. I'm certain it has fantastic uses in mixed drinks, but avoid drinking it straight too frequently.

About this bottle
Watershed Distillery in Ohio began producing Nocino in 2014, following a suggestion from a local physician, Charlie, who shared his homemade version. The liqueur is crafted using unripe black walnuts sourced from Ohio, along with sugar and spices. It is released yearly in limited quantities, so the alcohol by volume can differ.

An appealing nose filled with the aroma of Christmas spice cookies. A pleasant, sweet body follows, rich with gingerbread notes, complemented by clove. Exceptionally smooth, finishing with a subtle spice.
The finest nocino I've encountered. Deep, dark, and well-balanced. Rich amber color, with notes of burnt caramel toffee – truly delightful. It will reside in the whiskey collection for an extended period. Bottle number 020360. Superb!
After dinner beverage. A digestive. A friend enjoys it.
Sweet, spicy, and full of flavor. It evokes the feeling of Christmas.
A truly excellent Nocino.
