About this bottle

This 2023 bottling represents the fifth yearly release in The Vaults series, showcasing Widow Jane's most aged and scarce whiskey. It is also the first bourbon launched under Head Distiller & Blender Sienna Jevremov, appointed in autumn 2022. The spirit is a combination of straight bourbons from Tennessee and Indiana, aged from a minimum of 15 years up to 20 years. Each release within The Vaults series undergoes finishing with wood from various locations, subjected to different durations of air seasoning. For this edition, Chinquapin oak casks, air-seasoned for at least 48 months, were chosen for the final maturation. It is proofed to 49.5% ABV using pure limestone water sourced from the Rosendale Mines in New York, situated 100 miles north of the distillery in Red Hook, Brooklyn. A total of 2,600 cases are available nationwide, with distribution commencing in October 2023 (Suggested Retail Price: $249).

Hugh Hwang 5.0

Wonderful aroma of rich caramel, baking spice, browned meringue, pralines, and brown bread. A delicate touch on the initial taste, which is full of high notes and a semi-dry character from the barrel. More wood influence than char, and a peppery, tingly warmth toward the back of the tongue. The flavors impact from all angles, with the roof of the mouth receiving a significant amount of the taste. After a few minutes, a dessert-like sweetness emerges and persists for over ten minutes, adding a sweetness not previously suggested. This release has a lot happening due to the Chinquapin Oak. An exceptionally long finish concludes on a pleasing note, making you desire just one more thoughtful sip.

Morton Calvillo 3.5

Nose: Walnuts that have been toasted, cherries. Palate: Cherry transitions to sweet oak, toasted marshmallows, and a nice spice. Finish: Sweet and spicy, it lingers in the center of the mouth pleasurably. Tasting score: 7 out of 10

Gage Cruz 4.0

Addison Baird 3.8
