About this bottle

The tenth bottling in WhistlePig's Boss Hog series, The Boss Hog X: The Commandments, is a straight rye whiskey. It was hand-bottled at the WhistlePig Farm after being finished in two distinct barrels: the first held a mead, while the second contained a spirit distilled from rye and whey, infused with aromatic resins. This whiskey is bottled at a proof between 52.6-53.5% ABV. It has been available across the United States since October 2023 with a suggested retail price of $599.99.

Norris Quinones 3.8

Light and sweet at first, with honey, rye, and caramel. It then develops into a rather spicy jalapeño finish that stings as it goes down. An interesting equilibrium. I didn't find it as captivating and distinct as the other two Boss Hogs I've sampled; it was a bit too fiery for my liking.

Carmine Dewitt 4.5

The nose is very sweet with hints of honey and vanilla. The palate echoes this, with additional suggestions of clove, cinnamon, and dark chocolate. A long finish.

Payton Tavarez 4.8

The nose wasn't particularly noteworthy, but the mead truly stands out on the palate. Abundant rich honey flavors with a raisin finish.

Ernesto Stout 4.8

This is so enjoyable, the flavor is excellent! I found the XIII and IX to be good, but this one surpasses them in my opinion.

Joey Escamilla 5.0

Truly incredible. A must-try for any serious bourbon or rye enthusiast.
