About this bottle

Mosswood whiskeys are acquired from external distillers and subsequently finished in distinctive casks in Berkeley, California. The whiskey used for this particular bottling is a light whiskey from Indiana, primarily corn-based, which had been aged for seven years in used bourbon casks. Mosswood then finished this whiskey in a barrel that had previously held cold brew coffee. It is worth noting that "light whiskey" is defined as a spirit distilled between 160 and 190 proof, contrasting with bourbon, which cannot exceed 160 proof during distillation. Light whiskey can be aged in either used oak barrels or uncharred new oak barrels.

I'm a big fan of whiskey and coffee. This is perfect! I was hesitant to buy it because of mixed reviews, but maybe I got a great batch. It's so smooth and has the coffee flavor I wanted. I'll definitely be buying more.

Floral notes on the nose, along with some chocolate. It's certainly a light whiskey. It's sweet, and the coffee notes are noticeable on the finish, leaving a pleasant lingering espresso-like taste. Pairs well with cigars. 6/25/17

Unusual, yet intriguing. One taste was sufficient.
