About this bottle

The second edition of Solum was produced similarly to the first, but this American single malt whiskey was matured for an additional year. The peat used was gathered sustainably approximately 2 hours south of Seattle, ensuring the bog's future health. Using 100% Skagit Valley Malting peated malted barley (8-12 ppm) for distillation, it was subsequently aged in Cooper's Reserve new American oak, Cooper's Select new American oak, and first-fill bourbon barrels. Just 5,212 bottles are available globally, with a launch in February 2023. The suggested retail price is $149.99 for a 700ml bottle.

Myron Crowe 4.0

The aroma is full of earthy malted barley. The body is much lighter than anticipated, with earthy and woody flavors. It tastes like malted barley, similar to the smell, but with very little sweetness. There's a herbal, medicinal tannin note that I usually appreciate, but it's a bit overwhelming here. I wish there was more sweetness to balance it, but everything seems to be heading in the same direction. It's not bad at all, just lacking the complexity I anticipated.
