Westland Colere, a new inclusion in the Outpost Range from Westland, spotlights a primary raw ingredient in single malt whiskey creation with an accent on terroir. The name "Colere," which translates from Latin to "to cultivate," centers on the barley, specifically Alba, a six-row winter barley. This whiskey was matured solely in used casks, with second-fill Independent Stave Company Cooper's Reserve barrels accounting for 62% of the aging and first-fill ex-bourbon barrels for the remainder. It is bottled at 50% ABV and is planned as an annual release debuting in spring 2021.

The aroma is predominantly barley with a strong scent. It's quite thin but complements the flavors well. There's a light, almost honey-like sweetness alongside barley notes. It's light yet full of flavor. The medium body is surprisingly smooth for its proof. It's well-balanced.
New barley expression. Lovely aroma with fruit, light menthol, and licorice. Medium-light body with elegant notes of tropical fruit and light caramel.
Aroma: caramel apple, honey, citrus, plum Flavor: dark fruits, chocolate and spicy on the finish
Tastes very immature. Reminiscent of moonshine.
