Sallie Laws 4.3

My final assessment of Wemyss malts: this peat-focused whisky isn't intensely peaty and seems to lack some equilibrium. It's a blended malt composed of 16 whiskies, including one Islay malt aged 12 years. Bottled at 40% ABV Aroma: Lemon, subtle peatiness, very citrusy and medicinal. Prunes and... gasoline. Taste: It's quite pleasant. Chocolate, dry, ashy. A bonfire and a chimney would be fitting descriptors. Finish: This is where it falls short, though not unpleasantly so. It resembles an ashtray and is excessively fiery and potent in a way that isn't particularly enjoyable. Overall, it's a decent whisky, but one can find more refined peaty options for the price that are considerably more pleasing. 85 out of 100.
