About this bottle

TX Straight Bourbon Tawny Port Finish starts with a four-year-old TX Straight Bourbon, which features a mash bill of corn, wheat, and malted barley all sourced from Texas. This bourbon then rests for six months in European oak tawny port casks, which are 10 years old. It is bottled at 101.6 proof.

Tamika Cordova 4.0

Sweet and syrupy on the nose, with a good amount of oak. It has a higher viscosity and more dark sweetness compared to other Texas offerings, and is much better than the standard Angel's Envy. The Texas distillery did a great job with this port-finished bourbon.

Ingrid Clayton 4.0

It has oak and dark fruit notes. The palate is incredibly rich and fruity, with mocha being prominent in the middle. I also detected a hint of caramel drizzled cannoli for some reason. The finish is long and consistent.

Carmine Luo 3.5

Not as good as the sherry casked version. The base bourbon is much more evident, and the port notes are less pronounced. I was hoping for more wood influence and a smoother finish.

Joanna Mattox 4.0

Baking spices are upfront, followed by candied cherries. A good, mouth-coating finish.

Tiffany Delong 4.5

Beautifully balanced.
