Nose - pine, cracked peppercorns, seeds, vague lemon/lime, significant ethanol sting. Palate - distilled spirits, sugary lemon/lime, pine, seeds, black pepper or galangal, intense spirit sting, concluding quickly with sharp alcohol and acrid botanical notes. This spirit comes from the same talented people who make Winchester bourbon, so it ought to be fantastic. In short: it's not. It's quite immature and fiery with minimal actual taste. There's a touch of citrus and some spice that might pass for pine if you really stretch your imagination. It lacks any unpleasant notes, unlike the Seagram’s, but I'd rate its quality about the same. If you're restricted to spending under $15 per bottle, this might suit your needs, but I suggest paying a little extra for the Beefeater.
