Trois Rivieres Cuvée de l'Ocean

Considering the name and appearance, I anticipated a sea-like character, similar to certain whiskies from the north, but I was entirely mistaken. Smell: Suggests tomato, green plants, parmesan, and savory notes that strongly evoke lobster bisque or bouillabaisse, with hints of parsley or dried celery. Quite distinctive. Taste: Less powerful but aligns well with the aroma, adding a light floral sweetness and some sugar cane. Feels somewhat disjointed, a disharmonic blend of flavors lacking typical "funk" to compensate. Aftertaste: Not very long, with salty and herbal notes. To be honest, I'm not a big fan and will keep it for occasional sipping when I'm in an unusual mood until it's gone. I definitely won't buy it again. Because of its tomato notes, I think this could make an interesting Bloody Mary or be a good addition to seafood dishes.

The nose is rich and complex with that Martinique smell. The palate though is quite good! It's bright without being terribly astringent. It has some nice sweetness with a little squash, but also some really nice rich tropical fruit notes, including mango, banana, and a bit of green pineapple. There's some nice sea brine, but also a bit of sugar water sweetness that's a tad refreshing. Not a ton of alcohol. It's a good balance with perhaps a bit too much sugar water. It's solidly drinkable to the point of being enjoyable without being excellent.

Difficult to describe the flavor; salty, tart, and not pleasing at all. Gave it a real effort to like this one, but I can't.

Raw, sugar cane, a touch of medicinal, a hint of minty chewing gum. Fun!

This is one of my all-time favorite bottles.
