About this bottle

Town Branch True Cask is an unfiltered blend of two Kentucky bourbon mash bills, presented at cask strength. It includes the distillery's standard 72% corn, 15% malted barley, and 13% rye mash bill, alongside an undisclosed recipe with a higher corn content. The bourbon is produced in small batches and bottled directly from the cask.

[5.2023] I honestly can't pinpoint when I first tasted this. The spring semester of 2023 was a challenging time, and I basically drank through it like the spring of '20. Somewhere in that period, I bought a bottle of this because I'd long wanted to find a single barrel version (which I now possess). I don't know what I paid, but it was too much. A bartender at the distillery mentioned on a later visit that this was their best offering, but I disagree. It's simply harsh. 'Oily' is an accurate description, along with vanilla and the bite of an untamed spirit. It might be better with an ice cube; drinking it straight isn't my preference in this case.

Another bottle enjoyed during a camping excursion. This marks my third sampling from this distillery, and aside from the Single Barrel expression, none have truly stood out. The True Cask is not unpleasant; it presents a traditional bourbon aroma, flavor profile, and a medium-short finish. However, it lacks any distinctive qualities. It might improve with additional aging, but for now, it is merely adequate.

Marci Sylvester 3.8

A strong aroma of peanut brittle sweetness. Nutty notes are followed by dill and licorice, with additional nutty and herbaceous undertones. The finish is medium to long.

If you're seeking something superior to Ezra Full Proof and comparable to McKenna 10 Year, this is your bottle!

Trace Brinkley 3.8

This Bourbon presents a pleasant taste. It begins smoothly with hints of Vanilla, Honey, and a touch of Leather, finishing with more Vanilla and Cinnamon.

Taylor Belanger 3.5

Heavy ethanol, vanilla, fruit on the nose. Grains/cereal, citrus, vanilla, baking spices, banana on the palate. A fairly hot finish.
