Town Branch Maple Barrel Stout Finished Bourbon (2022 Release)

For those who enjoyed the Founder's finished bourbon from Bardstown, this Town Branch is a more affordable alternative. While not as delicate as Bardstown's Founder's, the Town Branch compensates with its maple stout sweetness. It's noticeable but not overpowering, and it enhances the bourbon's character. I truly appreciate this bottle; it feels like comfort food – warm, inviting, and like a nice embrace, which is welcome during these cold Midwestern winters.

The aroma is strongly of chocolate and roasted notes. The palate is cocoa with a smooth texture. I'm not detecting any maple on this initial tasting, but it's very good. The finish is brief, which is anticipated for a lower proof spirit.

Good value for the money! I agree the maple is subtle in flavor, but the aroma is rich with maple and it's a very enjoyable drink throughout.
