The aroma immediately hits with a strong umami and barley presence, alongside a faint citrus peel and pear. With some air, these scents blend, reminiscent of ripe banana, occasionally bordering on artificial banana candy. This carries to the palate, where the barley sweetness is prominent, supported by a slight savoriness and a touch of citrus peel. The finish presents a subtle green olive note, almost like focaccia with olives. Quite good considering the low price, but definitely on the more savory end for shochus I've sampled. Maybe start with Iichiko Silhouette if you're new to shochu, though I defer to the experts on this matter!
