About this bottle

Chugoku Jozo, a Japanese company, produces Togouchi Pure Malt by importing single malts from various distilleries, including some in Scotland. These imported whiskies are then aged in a former train tunnel in the city of Togouchi, which measures 362 meters long. The tunnel maintains a constant temperature of 15° Celsius.

Nose: A distinct smokiness is perceived initially, which becomes much lighter with water. Quite smooth. Palate: Sweet at first, with spice, banana, and a noticeable lemon aroma. The peat influence concludes with spice. Finish: A medium, oily finish leaves a dry sensation at the end. Overall: My first Japanese whiskey had a very pale color. Its pleasant drinkability and the peat influence earned it good marks from me. 81/100
